Veteran Executive Richard Soltero to Head PharmaDirections
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – January 19, 2004 –PharmaDirections, Inc., a
North Carolina-based pharmaceutical development consulting service, is poised to assist
pharmaceutical and biotech companies move their drug products through the
complicated development pipeline more efficiently.
Founded in 2003 by veteran scientist Richard Soltero, Ph.D., PharmaDirections has more than a dozen senior associates. They are all experienced industry consultants each possessing over 25 years’ experience in pharmaceutical and biotechnology, as well as extensive knowledge of contract research organizations. The company will work primarily with biotech and small pharmaceutical companies.

Specific services provided by the firm include designing and directing pharmaceutical development programs, preclinical development, pharmaceutical product development, chemistry and manufacturing controls, CTM manufacturing and inventory management, and outsourcing management.
Dr. Soltero’s career includes executive leadership in formulation development, analytical chemistry and managing multi-disciplinary projects. He is the former Executive Director of Pharmaceutical Development and Analytical Chemistry at Nobex Corporation, where he led the strategic development of an orally delivered protein product. This was licensed to GSK in a deal worth over $280 million in 2003. He has held Vice President level positions at Magellan Laboratories, AAI and Smith Kline Beecham as well as scientific management position at Johnson & Johnson and Ciba-Geigy. He has over 45 scientific publications and presentations to his credit, along with 5 patent applications and multiple invention disclosures in the areas of oral protein formulations and recombinant protein processes.
